We're protected from Cat Stevens

The time to deport Cat Stevens was 30 years ago, when he was war bling 'Oh Very Young' and a cover of Sam Cooke's 'Another Saturday Night.'

In all fairness, however, that also would have required deporting Don McLean, the Village People, Morris Albert, Debby Boone, Dawn, the Captain and Tennille, Bo Donaldson, Gilbert O'Sullivan, the New Seekers and a mess of other people who made the 1970s what they were. A watch list would have been longer than Tony Orlando's mustache. "

Songs in the Key of Politics

"ang gabi'y pumanaw nang ganap.
panahon na ng pag unlad,
madaling araw ay nagdiriwang nagnanakaw
sa umagang namasdan ng manok sa kulungan
ngumiti ang pag-asa nagising si mang teban
sa umagang anong ganda
may bagong silang,
may bago nang buhay,
bagong bansa,
bagong galaw,
sa bagong lipunan.
magbabago ang lahat,
tungo sa pag-unlad,
at ating itanghal,
bagong lipunan!"

Eddie Adams, Journalist Who Showed Violence of Vietnam, Dies at 71

Nguyen Ngoc Loan was a South Vietnamese chief of police. He was depicted summarily executing Nguyen Van Lem, a Vietcong agent, in front of an NBC cameraman and Associated Press photographer Eddie Adams on February 1, 1968. The photo and film would become two of the most famous images in journalism and started to change the American public's views on their involvement in Vietnam. The photo won Adams the 1969 Pulitzer Prize for spot news photography, though he was later said to have regretted taking it.
